4-Day “Jump-Start” Detox Program at The Sanctuary of Sedona

Overview:

This innovative program is an opportunity for incoming clients to “jump-start” their physical and psychological healing. The program is a 4-day body detoxification and brain upregulation process which prepares clients for their 30-day holistic recovery program, making the overall program 34 days. It is designed to get people feeling and functioning their best so they can get the most out of their time at Sanctuary. The program includes intensive IV NAD and nutrient therapy, detox smoothies, group meditation and yoga sessions, private bodywork, and a variety of other supportive healing modalities. For those who are enduring mild-moderate drug withdrawal symptoms, this program also includes withdrawal symptom management and monitoring by our medical staff. During the Jump Start program, the client will complete intake and orientation sessions. At the end of the 4-day program, the client will be physically, mentally, and emotionally better prepared to be fully immersed and engaged in all sessions and activities included at Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary 4-Day “Jump-Start” Detox Program is an add-on with additional cost to our holistic 30-day, residential drug, and trauma recovery program. The 4-Day “Jump-Start” Detox Program is offered through our licensed on-campus medical clinic.

Who it is for:

This program is available to incoming clients who would benefit from additional nutritional and medical support during their first few days at Sanctuary. It’s a great option for people run down by chronic stress, trauma, anxiety, illness, depression, over-medication, overwork, poor diet, and many other situations that deplete and weaken the body, mind, and spirit. It is ideal for people coming to Sanctuary with *Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS) and for those who anticipate mild-moderate symptoms of cannabis withdrawal, amphetamine withdrawal, kratom withdrawal, **opiate withdrawal, and/or nicotine withdrawal. It is also appropriate for people who are discontinuing specific medications. Approval for this program requires a screening process with Sanctuary staff to assure it is safe and appropriate for each unique case.

Who it is NOT for

This program is NOT suitable for people withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepine abuse. Detoxing from these substances can result in dangerous symptoms that require extensive monitoring and intervention to navigate safely. Because we are not a licensed medical detox facility and do not have round-the-clock medical staff, alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal, severe withdrawal symptoms from any substance, and individuals in otherwise poor physical health are not appropriate for our Jump Start Program. People with these issues will be referred to a detox site where they can safely and effectively complete withdrawal prior to arriving at Sanctuary.

What it includes:

A holistic variety of psychiatric, naturopathic, nutritional, and mind/body modalities are applied through a structured program in the tranquil setting of the Sanctuary campus.

  • A comfortable room on campus
  • 3 organic, delicious meals per day
  • Detox smoothies
  • Intake sessions with our psychiatrist, psychotherapist, naturopath, and nurse
  • 4 days of Intensive Nutrient IV Therapy to rapidly overcome withdrawal
    • Daily NAD IV therapy (link to our NAD page)
    • Inner Harmony IV (aka “Myers IV”) therapy with Glutathione and supportive amino acids
  • Medication management of withdrawal symptoms, when needed
  • Nutritional supplements, botanical medicines, and homeopathy to support the detox and healing processes.
  • Supportive massage, bodywork, and energy therapies
  • Supportive sauna and biomat (PEMF) therapies
  • Access to group meditation and yoga sessions
  • Development of a full treatment plan for the rest of your stay at Sanctuary

*It is our observation that clients coming from medical detox for alcohol and benzodiazepines are released from the detox facility when they are no longer at risk for having a withdrawal seizure or hypertensive crisis, among other serious medical consequences. However, most people coming out of medical detox still experience ongoing mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms and often find it difficult to feel functional. This is called Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). Therefore, our 4-day Jump Start program is also appropriate for people who have completed medical detox at another facility and still feel symptomatic (“lousy, sick, terrible, etc”).

PAWS consists of symptoms that continue after acute withdrawal of any intoxicating substance is complete. These symptoms often occur episodically and can continue for up to a year. Common symptoms include:

  • Anxiety
  • Irritability & Aggression
  • Depression & Mood Swings
  • Fatigue & Low Energy
  • Difficulty Concentrating
  • Difficulty Thinking
  • Difficulty Sleeping
  • Physical Pain & Discomfort
  • Low Libido
