Hear From Experts and Sanctuary Alums

Everyone’s recovery journey looks different, and The Sanctuary at Sedona is here to help you through it. Explore more about our program through the stories of other experts and alumni.

My 30 days at the Sanctuary at Sedona in Spring 2020 truly saved my life, and created an entirely new elevated baseline for my level of functioning and wellbeing since. Prior to this experience I had faithfully worked on my complex PTSD for decades with individual therapy and tried many different medications; yet I still struggled with serious symptoms every day that impacted my ability to connect with others, access positive mood states, or feel that life was worth living. One month later I left truly transformed: connected to myself and others, fully embodied in a way I had never experienced before, with new tools and grateful to be alive. The combination of truly holistic body, mind and spirit focused therapeutic approaches creates a powerful synergistic impact, each element builds on the others to produce, in my personal experience, transformative change. Attending was a big financial stretch for me, and I decided that saving my life was worth the equivalent of a somewhat fancy car, and I took out a loan. It took me 3 years to finish paying for it, like a car payment, and it was and is 100% worth it, it's the best decision I've ever made.I chose the Sanctuary at Sedona for the following reasons and am including my take on each:The very small size helped me feel like a guest rather than a patient or prisonerStaff living on site and eating meals with clients shows the very personal investment the team makes in you, you're in their home and it feels like it in the best way. It feels like a healthy family atmosphere, I felt safe and welcome in a way I had never experienced before. The staff truly care about the folks they work with, and I appreciated that they are all continuing to learn and grow with their own personal work. The gut reset anti-inflammatory all organic and as local as possible food prepared by a team of local chefs, including foods grown on site, with extremely high-quality supplements (which included education by the chefs and the therapeutic nutritionist) created huge changes in my body and brain in a month. I'd tried so many diets before, this was a completely different experience that reset my trauma plagued gut in a way nothing else ever had.The body work (many types of massage) several times a week was the highest quality I've ever experienced, and helps you work through the physical part of detoxing your body from the standard American diet and trauma impacts on the gut, as well as the emotions and trauma that is stuck in the body. The facilities are excellent, thoughtfully laid out and carefully tended to. I knew I needed to be able to have my own room to feel safe and calm, many programs require 1 or more roommates. The land itself and the setting are part of the therapy, it's a quiet and peaceful place, away from the intensity of city sounds, traffic and energy. It's amazingly quiet and peaceful at night, you can see the stars, and the air is clean. The medical team, including therapists, are excellent, there are a team of professionals tending to you.The energy medicine is interesting and helpful, the inclusion of spirituality from many perspectives without any sense of being preached to or recruited for someone's team helped me explore spirituality in a completely new way.

Incredible place! Perfect for anyone open to really doing the inner work to embrace life and shine in the world! A wholistic, cutting-edge approach to addiction and recovery! My son has been through the program and so have I. Every day there is life-changing. They inspire and support beautiful, deep inner work. You and your life will never be the same after the blessing of a month with these wonderful people/practitioners and the world they have co-created. I can never thank them enough! The program so rich in ways you cannot imagine, even the land is part of the magic and healing that occurs there!

I simply cannot recommend the Sanctuary enough. It is a one of a kind place and community, in the best way possible. The staff and community are kind, welcoming and make you feel deeply cared for. I am incredibly grateful for my time at the Sanctuary. I left as a much stronger, healthier and happier person.
