The Importance of Nutrition When Healing From Addiction or Trauma
Good nutrition is of paramount importance to maintaining the health of your body, mind, soul and spirit. This is particularly important when recovering from physical or emotional trauma, when you need all of your physical, emotional and energetic resources to get better. Eating foods that are rich in nutrients, enzymes and vital life force energy can speed your recovery time dramatically. Processed, institutional, microwaved and overcooked foods are devoid of life and generally devoid of nutrients. That is why we do not have a microwave oven in our kitchen.
Food Quality
The Sanctuary takes painstaking care in every aspect of the food we serve. We select each ingredient we purchase to make sure it is of the highest quality and certified organic. We do not purchase or serve any foods that contain genetically modified organisms (engineered foods that have genetic material of other plants or animals spliced into their genetic codes in a way that does not occur in nature). We also do not use any foods that contain high fructose corn syrup.

Freshness
The less time the food sits between harvest and eating the better. Essential enzymes, which are the life force of the food, begin to decay as soon as food is picked. Food sitting in the grocery store can look great but lack enzymes and nutrients. We harvest food every day, which ensures the highest vitamin and enzyme content. Eating food rich in enzymes feeds and builds up your enzymes and speeds your healing process.

Soil
Much of the food grown in the U.S. is grown in soil that is deficient in minerals. That means that the food growing in that soil is also deficient in minerals. This can apply to organic food as well. Our biodynamic gardening method ensures that our soil is rich and produces vital crops. People who are healing and recovering can use all the energy they can access to get better.

The Sanctuary chefs specialize in international and cultural cuisine so you are always stimulated by new tastes. We believe that eating healthy and vital food should be enjoyable. We serve a variety of foods from raw, vegan and vegetarian to non-vegetarian dishes like organic chicken and wild fish. Our food is prepared with love and positive energy that you can taste.

Education
We teach you as much as you care to learn about eating healthy foods and food preparation. By incorporating some simple and easy food choices into your life, you can stay feeling better long after you leave.
Juicing
We pick fresh greens daily which are rich in nutrients and enzymes and assist in the detoxification process of the body. Green juice is alkalizing to the body to offset the acetic properties of processed foods that comprise much of the American diet. Stress, negativity and anxiety also create acidity in the body. Green juice is healing, cleansing and energizing.
