The Hero's Journey
Everyone can have a future, but not everyone has a destiny. Which do you want?

The hero’s journey is the process of using every experience in your life, both good and bad as fuel toward what you really want. When your journey becomes the hero’s journey, you will no longer feel like a victim. The hero can transform a painful past into a source of great power and wisdom. The hero comes to know that without every experience in their past, they would not be the person they are today. The hero also knows that there is an opportunity in every crisis, and learns to find it. Read the rest of The Hero's Journey here.
How to Live in Love
Those of us committed to our spiritual journeys and conscious awakening quite often hear and say “choose love, not fear”. The message is so clear; the vibration, resonance and energy of love is vital for our survival. We cannot continue to function from a place of fear, hate and scarcity as this energy is destroying our planet and ourselves. We all know this, but few know how to actually live this consistently day to day, moment to moment. I am believer in this “love over fear” ideal, but my question is always HOW? How do I “live in love.”? Read the rest of How to Live in Love here.
What is the Success in Recovery?
Despite statistics, which would have you believe otherwise, the fact is that an overwhelming majority of treatment centers have terrible records in helping people achieve long-term success. I know this to be true as I have completed numerous treatment protocols and have first hand knowledge of the staggering rates of relapse by witnessing my fellow patients. One particularly noteworthy example; I was a patient at a very prestigious east coast facility for 3 months in a unit with 30 males. Three of them were sober a year later. I am certain that this particular treatment center does not advertise a 10% success rate. I am also certain that they have no idea of their true rate of success. It follows that this case is not isolated but rather is reflective of the treatment industry as a whole. In actuality 10% may be higher than average because of the prominence of that particular facility. Read the rest of What is the Success in Recovery? here.
Co-Creating Your Destiny

You are creating your reality, whether you know it or not.
That we are all co-creators of our own lives is a truth that speaks to the very fabric of our existence and the Laws of the Universe as the new quantum sciences are proving. The challenge is that most of us are unconsciously creating what we don’t want in our lives rather than consciously creating what we do want. You do not need to be stuck in these habitual patterns of self destruction. You can move from a place of the victim to the place of empowerment. How? Your old ways of perceiving the world needs to expand. You cannot even being to dream of a new life if you are trapped in your old limiting beliefs. To get yourself out of your old predicament you have to open to new possibilities. Modern Shamanism
Though cloaked in mystery, Shamanism is neither mysterious nor “new age”. Dating back over 5,000 years and sprawling from Asia through the Americas, Shamanism has a large if not well understood significance in world history. The dearth of western scholarship on the subject is, most likely, due to the fact that the myriad of ancient cultures which practiced Shamanism were, by and far, cultures of oral traditions; that is, they did not reduce their belief systems, their values, or their ceremonies to writing. While it is well understood that, for example, the Mayans were a highly developed culture with intricate knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, architecture, etc., we have no written accounts (in the traditional sense) of their history. Nevertheless, there remain to present day certain practices and beliefs that are common to all Shamanic cultures. Read the rest of Modern Shamanism here.
The Limits of Abstinence and Limitation
Breaking free of old habits can be difficult for everyone. How many times have you promised yourself that today you would stop something, only to find yourself right back at it again? Why is it so difficult to make sustainable life change toward what we truly want?
We have been trained to overcome our bad habits with discipline and the mindset of abstinence or limitation. For example: if we are too heavy, we will limit our food intake. If we are alcoholic, we will abstain from alcohol. If we are in an abusive situation, we will develop boundaries which limit our contact or abstain altogether. Because our brains are wired a certain way, the discipline of abstinence and limitation is a valuable first step toward change. But limitation and abstinence by their very definition are difficult to sustain because they go against human nature. Read the rest of The Limits of Abstinence and Limitation here.
Take A Moment To Examine Your Shadow
Say Hello To My Little Friend. Culturally, we are taught to ignore or even repress our shadow pieces, our darker side, our nasty little thoughts, urges, and behaviors. Unfortunately, what we leave unattended does not “go away”; rather it grows and often times comes to bite us when we least expect it and certainly when we don’t feel we need it. But what if we truly examined our shadow? Took the time to look-in and embrace this darker side? What, if anything would we gain? How would we feel? What might we loose? The Body, Mind, Soul, and Spirit Connection
Many are seeking holistic and integrative approaches to health and wellness. We have all heard the words “mind”, “body”, “soul”, and “spirit". We know they describe aspects of a human being, but do we really stop to think about what these words really mean and their profound impact on our lives? If there is a body, mind, soul and spirit connection, it must be true that anything directly affecting a person in one of these areas, must affect all other areas as well. For example, an event or disease affecting the body must also affect the mind, the soul and the spirit. An event or disease that affects the mind must also affect the body, the soul and the spirit, etc. We are whole human beings and our component parts, while seeming unrelated, are intimately connected. The Myth of Chemical Imbalance
Today, over 27 million Americans, many still in their teens, are being prescribed some type of antidepressant to curb their complaints of depression, or other undesirable chronic mood. This may be an acceptable course of treatment except for one vital fact:
There is No Scientific Evidence to Support the Claim that “Chemical Imbalances” Cause Depression, Anxiety or Other Related Mental Illness.
This fact is well known by the mainstream medical and psychiatric profession, yet prescriptions for antidepressants continue to be the preferred and accepted course of treatment for depression and anxiety-related “disorders”. Read the rest of The Myth of Chemical Imbalance here.
