Non 12-Step Recovery Programs and Healing Center Introduction
Our Program is based in absolute hope. We know you can heal. We know you matter. We know you can make a difference. We have witnessed it. We have experienced it. We also know that you and only you have the responsibility for beginning your healing journey. You can change yourself, your life and the world around you—absolutely. Everyone at The Sanctuary has done it. You can do it too. And we will show you HOW.
Are You at a Crisis Point in Your Life?
Your life may feel as though it is unraveling and spinning out of control. When we are out of balance in our lives, this imbalance creates “dis-ease” in every area of our lives. Dis-ease (Latin: Not at ease) means imbalance. Dis-ease affects us physically, psychologically and/or spiritually. Dis-ease manifests as anxiety, insecurity, depression, addiction and codependency. Imbalance and dis-ease can show up in many ways in a person’s life. Can you identify with any of the following?

Addiction and Substance Abuse
In simple terms, addiction is a continued involvement with a substance or activity despite the negative consequences associated with it. In addition to alcohol and drugs (both prescription and illegal), addiction includes abnormal psychological dependency on such things as gambling, food, sex, pornography, computers, internet, work, exercise, idolizing, watching TV, money, self-injury and shopping.
Codependence
Codependency is the ultimate coping mechanism that is actually revered and encouraged in our society. Codependency is a coping mechanism that can range from obsessive caretaking to consciously or unconsciously trying to control someone else’s behavior. Some simple definitions of codependency are an unequal exchange of energy in a relationship, or when you give away your power to another person, place or thing. Codependent patterns keep you from speaking your truth, taking care of your needs, health and well-being, and keep you stuck in the triangle of disempowerment where you continuously play out the roles of victim, rescuer and perpetrator.
“What Does It Really Matter” Syndrome
You feel helpless. You’ve tried everything and nothing “works”. You still are not doing what you want to do. You are not with the person you want to be with. You are not living in the place you want to live. The world is a mess and there is nothing you can do about it.
“The Victim” Paradigm
You, deep down, still believe you are a victim. You feel as though you are a victim to your circumstances, family, health, lot in life, income, chemical imbalance, addiction, government, finances - even God. Your life experience is dependent on external realities outside your control.
The “Dark Night of the Soul”
You find yourself in a profound state of despair and desperation and hopelessness.
The “Mid-Life Crisis” or “Emptiness” Syndrome
You live in a state of meaningless apathy. You have it “all” yet this means nothing and you feel empty. You long and crave for more.
What is Radical Transformation™?
The Sanctuary at Sedona offers a Shamanic 4-Step Program for Recovery regardless of how this crisis is showing up in your life, whether it is physical (disease, illness, weight), emotional (depression, anxiety, addiction), soul (mid-life crisis, lack of purpose, direction or meaning) or spirit (toxic energy patterns, re-occurring disease patterns). Our Program is a unique 4-Step Program designed to work simultaneously on healing and integrating the mind, body, soul and spirit.
You will be taken through our 4-week, 4-step holistic Program. Each step of the Program is 1 week. Because each person is unique, your program would be specifically designed to meet your needs. Our Program can be completed in either a one 4-week period, or broken down into individual 1-week periods that can be spread out over time.

What Does “Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit” Mean?
It is now substantiated by science that the mind, body, soul and spirit are all interconnected, thus if you have symptoms manifesting in your body, there must be dis-ease in your mind, soul and energy body as well. Sustainable healing occurs only when your entire being is treated, not just one part of yourself.
Addiction recovery is a powerful example of how this integrative holistic approach works. Even if a person stops using the addictive substance, behavior or thoughts and identifies the emotional wounding and trauma that created the need for these coping mechanisms, without healing at the soul and spiritual level, chances of sustainable healing are limited.
Another good example of how this works is to look at a person with skin cancer. Why is it that many people who successfully remove the cancer at an early stage, find themselves with the same growth at a later time? We know that within a relatively short period of time we have a completely new "suit" of skin, so why does it grow back with a cancer when the cancer was removed? Clearly the "imprint" of the skin cancer is still in the person's energetic "blueprint", and until this is removed, the body will continue to recreate the disease.
Another example is heart disease which has a direct correlation with anger and stress. So, even if a person treats the coronary disease with medication or surgery, if the underlying emotional issues are not addressed during the healing process, the disease of the heart does not heal.

What Does “Shamanic Healing” Mean?
In many indigenous cultures, the Shaman is the medicine man or woman, the one responsible for the care of his or her community. In all such cultures, the Shaman is learned in both the natural/material world (plants, animals, minerals, elements) and the inner/immaterial world (subconscious, energetic). Shamanic traditions date back over 5,000 years and are evident worldwide.
As we are creating the new paradigm in health and wholeness, we can all become our own “shaman”. To be “shamanic” means that you find your own inner balance and daily practices for sustainable healing and transformation of your body, mind, soul and spirit. You become your own healer.
